Victorian Blue and White Jug

Victorian Blue and White Jug

SKU: RJ00533
£25.00Price

1890

From the late 18th century right through to the mid 20th century the blue and white pottery depicting detailed scenes was very popular, and would have been mass produced by all the pottery houses in Staffordshire.  Georgian and early Victorian tastes favoured a paler blue design, later Victorian tastes leaned more towards bolder colours and a more cobalt blue.   Everything was produced in this design from tea cups and saucers through to large serving platters.

This is a late Victorian kitchen jug. The jug would have been used for multi purposes, including as a dairy jug.

The jug is in good condition, with no chips or damage.
