Victorian Hand-Painted Child's Dis/Plate

Victorian Hand-Painted Child's Dis/Plate

SKU: RJ00518
£25.00Price

Only the wealthy would have had tableware designed and intended for children's use. This shallow-dished plate would have been used for a young child. It is hand-painted with an scene designed to entertain well-behaved children who had eaten all their food. And good children they must have been, given that this delicate piece of chinaware has remained in tact for over one and a half centuries! It has a raised relief design, very typical of the early to mid Victorian era.

The dish is in good condition with remarkably little wear to the paint, given its age.

Dimensions: 16.5cm in diameter
